The IELTS Writing test includes two tasks, each assessed using four key IELTS Writing Assessment Criteria. A band score is awarded for each criterion:

• Task Achievement (for Task 1) / Task Response (for Task 2)
• Coherence and Cohesion
• Lexical Resource
• Grammatical Range and Accuracy

Each criterion carries equal weight, and your final Writing band score is the average of the scores across all four areas.
